NEWSCENTRE (DIHA) – Kurdish Muslims in Turkey did not celebrate Ramadan, a religious holiday for all Muslims, but visited their beloved one’s graves who’s killed during the long lasted conflict and took the streets to protest the AKP administration’s military operations and also general policy over Kurds which the failure was confirmed by the US Congress, too.
As the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) cancelled all local party meetings to celebrate Ramadan, thousands of Kurds laid flowers on tombstones and prayed in Diyarbakir, Hakkari, Siirt, Sirnak, Van, Agri, Adana, Erzurum and their many districts while also another thousands of Kurds took the streets in some cities and their districts to protest AKP.
During the protests, police attacked on demonstrators in Hakkari and Van, and a child was seriously injured in Hakkari. 16 or 17 year-old Enver Turan was taken into Hakkari State Hospital, it is said to be his condition is serious.
On Tuesday, Turkish army killed nine HPG members in a single clash in Van despite the ceasefire declared by the PKK.
Van and Hakkari turned into battlefield
The (BDP) organised a protest in Van where police attacked on the protestors with pressured water and tears gas. It is reported that police also smashed the glasses of the shops belong to supporters of the demonstration. According to allegation, police used real bullets against protestors. The shopkeepers shut their shutters in the city and tense situation still continues, while 15 protestors were detained and more police from neighboring cities were deployed in the city, locals reported. It was also alleged that, BDP Van deputy Fatma Kurtulan was one of the injured people during the clash.
BDP Van deputy Özdal Üçer, blamed police for terrorizing citizens. He also called local governor to resign as the highest responsible person because of the police brutality in the city: “Police used our press conference as excuse to attack Kurds who was shopping for holiday. This is definitely the State terror. People were aggrieved because of this terror. And there is no one to ask for responsible officer or governors. They have to account before the public.”
During his speech, police threw one more gas bomb on Sanat Street.
People were trapped in the shops because of bombs, while a lot of spots have been fired by the protestors.
Condemns against death of nine HPG members continue
Condemns and protests against killing nine HPG members despite cease-fire have been continued during the Ramadan holiday. On the other hand, it was reported that, death people’s bodies in Malatya State Hospital for autopsy, will not be given to their families until Monday. Following deaths and police attacks against protestors, AKP Yüksekova Branch Chair Ahmet Uçar resigned for not supporting brutality of AKP administration.
Another Kurdish child dies in the Iranian shelling
It is reported that Iranian attacks on Shipitan and Dostani villages in Shehidan region left 16-year old Samut Mirzayi dead. Mirzayi have lost his life due to shrapnel piece.
In addition a Kurdish villager, Vedat Keri(18), was killed and his friend Adem Yakar (22) injured while they were trying to cross the Turkey-Iran border illegally by Turkish soldiers in Van yesterday. Turkish and Iranian soldiers killed 40 Kurds since January when they were trying to cross the border illegally.
