IZMIR (DIHA) – It is stated that 82 persons were killed by police because of allegedly not obeying warning to stop or committing suicide in the police stations. Died persons’ families of struggle is continuing due to reveal the real responsible. Mehmet Tursun, father of one of victim, established an international foundation (Baransav) to gather families of other victims of police.
International Baran Tursun Fundation has been established by Mehmet Tursun, father of Baran Tursun who was killed by police allegedly for not obeying warning to stop. Father Tursun who pointed the increasing number of deaths fallowing the Law of Police Powers (PVSK), said that “There is serious trust problem between judicial system’s parts. Judges do not trust judges and also courts do not trust other courts. It means there is no consistent approach between the parts of judicial system. Consistency is the most important base for judicial system and it is unbelievable if something is wrong with this part of the state. This inconsistency opens the road to PVSK which the most important reason for increasing number of citizens’ death of because of police’s use of excessive force.”
According to the information obtained from Human Rights Foundation of Turkey (TIHV) Centre of Documentation, increasing number of deaths related the Law of Police Powers as follows: There are two unknown perpetrator killings before 14 June2007 and this number jumped to 30 in 2008, following the amendments and 19 in 2009.
