‘Army operation needs to be ended’ 15:10 28.04.2010

ANKARA (DIHA) – Labour Party (EMEP), Liberty and Democracy Party (ODP) and Socialist Democracy Party (SDP) held a common press release to call government to stop the army operation and preparations for the operation in the Region.

The widespread operations around the Region get reaction from opposite parties in Turkey. Vice president of SDP Yesim Ergul identified the State’s approach toward the Kurdish problem as deadlock by referring operations even though democratic opening sayings of the governments.

“Authorities are suppressing Kurdish politicians via KCK operations and children as well. Thousands of Kurdish politicians and Kurdish children are in the prison without knowing that what kind of crime they committed. Besides Kurdish women are also facing rape and sexual harassment due to giving up struggle. It means official and total war have been practicing against Kurds who become more irritated while Turks are becoming agitated against Kurds. This is a deadlock and needs to be given up. “

Haydar İlker, vice president of ODP, also emphasized the opening process as makeup of AKP due to deceive the people while youths being killed, politicians arrested.

In addition Selma Gürkan, vice president of EMEP, spoke at the press release and alleged that AKP is ignoring Kurdish people and this is cannot make us to reach the peaceful solution. Gurkan said that imprisoned elected politicians have to be freed as soon as possible in order to catch democracy and trust of Kurds.
