ISTANBUL (DIHA) – Two million workers have died on work accident while 270 million work accidents have occurred in the world. 28 April, The day of Work Health and Work Safety of the World was celebrated by the Revolutionary Workers Trade Unions Confederation (DISK). President of DISK Suleyman Çelebi made a press release due to interpret the work conditions in the world.
28 April, The day of Work Health and Work Safety of the World was celebrated by the Revolutionary Workers Trade Unions Confederation (DISK) in Turkey. Suleyman Çelebi, the president of DISK, made a press release due to interpret the work conditions in the world. Çelebi emphasized that there are 270 work accidents that 2 million workers lost their life.
“The measures about labor health and safety need to be widespread and regulations related these cases have to be changed in order to decrease the number of deaths because of the work accidents. International Labor Organization (ILO) announced that 28 April as the day of Work Health and Work Safety of the World due to catch the standard for worker all around the world.”
Here are the some points related work accidents highlighted by Suleyman Çelebi as follows:
*There are 160 million occupational illnesses.
*22 thousands child worker are dying because of work conditions in the world.
*80 thousands work accidents occur every year in Turkey and 1200 workers have lost their life.
*There are 40 and 140 thousands occupational illnesses have been in Turkey. Average occupational illnesses number for each year in Turkey is 600.
On the other hand, the necessities need to be done in order to harmony with ILO listed by Celebi are as follows:
*Article 4875 needs to be changed according to ILO regulations.
* Anti-democratic laws related trade unions and collective agreement have to be changed.
*Amendments have to be contribution of trade unions, universities, chambers of engineers and architects, medical expertise and as well as Bar associations.
*Substructure needs to be developed regarding work accidents and international standards begin to be practiced before too late.
* Security measures particularly on child and women labor need to be taken in effective way.
