NEWS CENTRE (DİHA) - Associations of help and solidarity with families of prisoners held demonstrations in İzmir, Ağrı, Istanbul, Adana and Diyarbakır in order to draw attention to the prisoners on hunger strike protesting the aggravated isolation of PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) leader Abdullah Öcalan as lawyers of Öcalan applied today to Bursa Public Prosecutor's Office for their weekly visit which has been prevented since 27 July 2011 on excuses of "bad weather" and "ship malfunctioning".
In Ağrı Lezgin Baydak declared on behalf of the Association of Help and Solidarity with Families of Un-convicted and Convicted Prisoners (TUHAYD-DER): "This is our call to the AKP [Justice and Development Party) government and state. All political and military operations as well as the isolation of Mr. Öcalan must be ended. We want the Kurdish issue to be solved in a democratic and honourable way," noting that the Ministry of Justice and the ruling AKP (Justice and Development Party) government would be responsible of possible deaths due to the hunger strike.
