NEWS CENTRE (DİHA) - Turkey has been ranked 122nd out of 135 countries behind Bangladesh, Botsvana and Ghana in the Gender Gap Report 2011 by the World Economic Forum. The rankings of Turkey according to different criteria are as follows:
-Literacy rate 104
-Health and survival 62
-Sex ratio at birth (female/male) 1
-Healthy life expectancy 72
-Political empowerment 89
-Women in parliament 82
-Women in ministerial positions 99
According to the report, female adult unemployment rate is 14% of the female labour force while women in non-agricultural paid labour consists of 22% of the total labour force. The ability of women to rise to positions to enterprise leadership is reported as 4.11%.
Turkey was ranked 126th, 129th, 123rd, 121st and 105th in 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007 and 2006 respectively.
