Killed woman Eylem Pesen married by force
VAN (DİHA) – Religiously married Eylem Pesen had been stabbed and run over by car by her husband. She was 5 months pregnant when she was killed. It is revealed that Eylem had been forced to drop school and to marry according to religious rule instead of officially marriage when she was underage. Her husband has been arrested following killing her.
7 months ago, Eylem Pesen had been forced to marry with her cousin who was 12 year older than her. This decision had been practiced against her will. Eylem was underage and wanted to keep on her education. Before yesterday she had been brutally murdered by her husband who alleged that she had an extramarital affair.
Killing wasn’t enough for husband and he stabbed her and than run over her by his car.
Husband Kerem Çakan has been arrested and his crime determined as honor killing. In fact there was no honor killing in this case. This fact doesn’t make the event less painful but help us to understand how a man approach on woman is. Besides doesn’t matter who this man is, the man would be both a father and a husband since woman’s will doesn’t have any considerable value for them.
In Eylem Pesen case, we have all sides of terrible case neediness such as dominant father and dominant and also cruel husband. The both of them are men.
Eylem had been forced to marry with her cousin and taken from school, permanently. Violence was an essential element in this marriage since she didn’t want to marry him. Eylem occasionally had complained about constantly being beaten and wanted to be harbored by her own family. She had been forced to go back to her husband again and again. No one listened her and importance of her agony or may be they listened but also they ignored since a women need to carry all this kinds of pain on their shoulders from first days of the world history.
And eventually unavoidable end happened for Eylem as well as thousands of other women.
Now his father is looking sad and regret for not listening him at that time. He even claims himself as a real guilty since he forced her to marry and then to go back to her husband.
Is it too late? It is may be for Eylem but not for others who might be a possible victim. It would be better learning the lesson wouldn’t be cost too much. Until government takes serious measures to prevent women killings real stories will be the educational for people particularly men in Turkey, unfortunately.
