İSTANBUL (DİHA) – Women have complained PM R. Tayyip Erdoğan to the prosecutor for blaming killed woman and her family. Erdoğan had said fallowing Münevver Karabulut’s death that raise your girls appropriate, other wise you wouldn’t know what is going to happen to her. Women considered this warning as legitimation and feeding male violence.

17 year-old Münevver Karabulut had been killed and divided into pieces approximately four months ago. Killer suspect has not been caught, yet.

"If you release the girl other wise she goes to the drummer or horner” is a Turkish saying which means you need to keep your daughter under control other wise she can make a mistake. This saying became on the agenda of women fallowing Turkey’s Prime Minister R. Tayyip Erdoğan’s speech related killed and torn the pieces 17 year-old Münevver Karabulut’s case. Angry women complained about PM Erdoğan for legitimating and feeding male violence instead of finding killer or killers. Women from different organization united and made denouncement about PM. ‘Legal process has to be launched on PM’s speeches about this case’ said Münevver İltemur, member of Proletarian Women Association or EKD’s executive board during the press release.

Refering security director and PM’s who is responsible to find the killer instead of blaming victim and victim’s family statements İltemur said that this kind of approaches help nothing but make firm backward view of women statue in the society.

"If you release the girl other wise she goes to the drummer or horner” is one of reactionist sayings in Turkish. Repeating same saying without any consideration is an irresponsible act which works to feed society’s backward thinking and legitimize killer’s act. That is why we call the prosecutor on duty about PM’s last statements on this case.”

On the other hand head of Housing Workers Istanbul branch from Confederation of Revolutionary Workers Trade Unions Nebile Irmak Çetin also criticized PM Erdoğan’s accusatory statements of victim and victim’s family saying “this is not the first act of PM to insult women. He said ‘take your mom and leave’ when a farmer complained about his agricultural policy. Women rights are getting declining every day and one of the responsible is the PM of Turkey. We condemn him for his hostile acts and statements against women.”

Socialist Feminist Collective member Hülya Osmanağaoğlu and one of Labour Party İstanbul branch executive board Aynur Seyrek added that the condemnation was made behalf of women who against AKP’s women policy and being insulted by AKP.
