Kurdish women meet in the conference

DIYARBAKIR (DIHA) – Kurdish women met in the National Kurdish Conference held by Democratic and Free Women Movement (DOKH) on 24 in Diyarbakir. The Conference will end on 25 April. Main topic in the conference is violence, abuse and rape. Former Kurdish deputy Leyla Zana, current Kurdish deputies and scientists, writers, intellectuals and activists all from Canada, Germany, Switzerland, and parliaments from KDP, YNK, GORAN, Yekgirti from Iraq, Iran and Syria also attended the conference.
The National Kurdish Conference organized by DOKH began in Diyarbakir to discuss women’s problem such as violence, abuse and rape. 150 Kurdish women from Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey shared their paper on those cases. Scientist, writers, intellectuals and activist all around the world such as Canada, Germany, Switzerland, and parliaments from 4 different Kurdish parties such as KDP, YNK, GORAN, Yekgirti İslami from Iraq, Iran and Syria also attended the conference.
Exiled Kurdish women Prof. Kajal Rahmani and Suheyla Qazi daughter of Qazi Muhammed were the prominent guest during the Conference.
Former Kurdish deputy Leyla Zana made a speech in the Conference; “The biggest problem of women is liberty. Being aggrieved should force us to unite since Kurdish women are the most suppressed part of society. Women need to realize their responsibility due to change the world and be more powerful to carry the most important responsibility. Liberty and equality are must be our goal and unity must be the first step for that. This conference is the first step and must be considered as renaissance of Kurdish women. I have a call for all Kurdish women via this conference. We need to be united and in a harmony. Otherwise peace cannot be reached.
Mulkiye Birtane, member of the conference preparation committee, also made a speech and specially emphasized that the conference is a bridge between Kurdish women who live in four different countries.
Some of prominent attendees are; Prof. Kajal Rahmani, Süheyla Qazi; daughter of Qazi Muhammed, Ala Talabani; Parliament from Kirkuk, Amire Hasan; Adviser of Behram Salih, Tanya Kemal Derwersh; Zahmetkeş Party member, Ameera Saaed from Women Asuda, Sabriye Bahmany from Iran Communist Party, Tanya Muhammed from Iraq, Ronak Ali Hüseyin head of Women Federation of Kırkuk, Şirin Amadee a Councilor of KDP Women Works , Peace Assembly member Gülbahar Çiçekçi, member of Peace Mothers Emine Özbek, lawyer Ruşen Werdi Aytaç from Bar Association of Paris-Arbil, Şikofe Reshid Muhammed from Free Women Centre, Suzan Xala Shap, head of Unity Party’s Women Group, poet and translator Xelat Ehmed, Hamiyet Çelebi from Hakpar, Parliament Kwestan Mohammad Abdulla from Goran, Parliament Emine Zikri from KDP, , Parliament Emel Celal from YNK, journalist Nuray Mert and Feleknas Uca; former Parliament of European Union.
