BİTLİS (DİHA) – 3rd Women Culture and Art Festival began in Tatvan district of Bitlis fallowing visiting troubadour Mizgin’s grave.
Hundreds attendees of festival chanted slogans in Turkish and Kurdish during the march to troubadour Mizgin’s grave. Mass participators planted trees on the Martyr Mizgin Memorial Forest before celebrations.
Mahsume Sungur, member of festival organization committee, made a speech: “Women and their contribution to struggle for freedom cannot be denied by anyone. We are continuing the struggle which was inherited from Comrade Mizgin. We promise you we are not going to give up from freedom struggle.”
Yuksekova Mayor Ruken Yetiskin also had a speech due to present respects to martyrs who died during the struggle for freedom of Kurds. There were carnations were placed on the graves following Yetiskin’s speech.
The festival is going to last 2 days accompanied marches and concerts.
