ISTANBUL (DIHA)-Two reporters of Dicle News Agency (DIHA) were attacked in Istanbul while covering a demonstration by the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP).
The demonstration condemned the brutality and abuse by Turkish soldiers of the dead bodies of People’s Defense Forces’ (HPG) members.
It is reported that in Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul, correspondents Cagdaş Kaplan and Ismail Eskin, were attacked by an angry mob. Eskin was hospitalized due to his injuries and his camera was also stolen. Police remained complacent during the attack.
DIHA will organize a press conference to draw attention to the alarming rise in attacks on reporters. Two other reporters from DIHA, Omer Celik and Pinar Ural, were also attacked last month. Eskin was discharged from prison last month after serving a sentence related to his journalism.
