ISTANBUL (DIHA) – The news published yesterday titled “Karayilan speaks to BBC: We are ready for conditional disarmament” creates confusion because of mistranslation of BBC. According to the news there are two different explanation of Karayilan were given in the news. First one Karayılan says: "If the Turkish government refuses to accept that (conditions for disarmament), we will have to announce independence." On the contrary there is another explanation in the same news like: “The British daily also quoted Karayılan as saying the PKK would soon declare ‘democratic autonomy’ in the Kurdish regions of southeastern Anatolia. ‘If Turkey does not accept this, it is their problem,’ he said.”
According to Kurdish source there is no independency demand in Karayılan’s speech. Karayılan says; “PKK would soon declare ‘democratic autonomy’ in the Kurdish regions of southeastern Anatolia. If Turkey does not accept this (conditions for disarmament), it is their problem.”
