NEWSCENTRE (DIHA)- Yüksekova tests democratic autonomy
The residents of Yüksekova district of Hakkari are testing democratic autonomy while the form of autonomy is still being discussed in the mass meetings led by Peace and Democracy Party (BDP).
The problems between Kurds like blood feud, security, economic, ethical or any kind of individual problems have been tried to be solved by their own commission, committee or BDP organizations. As for that the BDP wants to establish a commission of wise-people to settle up the problems. In the mean time, youth in Yüksekova have already begun to change the streets names, it was reported. Diyarbakır Mayor Osman Baydemir called the project of democratic autonomy as a “Project for National Cooperation” instead of the “National Unity Project” which excludes minorities’ rights by recognizing only one nation, one language, and one religion in Turkey.
“People in Hakkari lost their confidence against government since the city is in the middle of conflicts and harmed because of security forces’ arbitrary behavior. Furthermore, long lasting policy of the State against Kurds has also created general mistrust. That is why, people in Hakkari mostly apply to the BDP or some other NGOs to settle up their various problems” said experts and observers.
There are lots of examples about this practice in Hakkari and its districts said Orhan Koparan, chair of BDP Hakkari Branch and added that current judicial system is creating new problems and bureaucracy took too much time which some of cases may not tolerate of losing time. We are working with NGOs which is mostly very effective since people are trust our decision and sense of justice.
Kurds still wait in their neighborhood in Hatay
The atmosphere generally calmed down in Dörtoy district of Hatay but still Kurds couldn’t leave their neighborhood to work or open their merchants in the city centre. In the mean time, it was reported that, financial damage because of attacks at Kurds’ work places climbed to 500 billion Turkish Liras in total.
Kurds in Iran forced to be guard against Kurds
According to allegation, Kurds in Iran have being forced to be guard against PJAK (Party for Free Life of Kurdistan) through local governors.
Tomorrow is a day for the mass meeting in Istanbul to boycott referendum
BDP and the other leftist parties and organizations will held a mass meeting to boycott the referendum of the amendment of constitution. Meeting will start at 14.00pm in Çağlayan Square in Istanbul. In addition, the boycott is getting more support from various environment and organizations in all around Turkey.
Military operations spread in Şırnak
It is reported that a new military operation was launched in Besta area in Şırnak. There are already wide scale operations lasting for a month.
