MERSİN (DİHA) – Mersin İHD branch met for cancer patient and prisoner Güler Zere in front of Association building. Protestor asked to be released of Güler Zere to receive appropriate cure.
Members of İHD gathered accompanied slogans and banners such as “prisoners have been turned into death houses”, “isolation kills”, “Güler Zere should be released”, “justice for everybody”. According to statement made by head of İHD Mersin branch, Mirze Mehmet Söylemez, during the meeting prisoners are in bad condition in the prisons in Turkey, particularly ill prisoners.
Söylemez spoke as fallows; There are 20 seriously ill political prisoners. They should be freed as soon as possible. If they died in prison like İsmet Ablak, who was cancer and died in prison without receive any kind of appropriate treatment, the Ministry of Justice and prison managers would be responsible. Around 40 political prisoners have died in prisons. Some body has to be responsible for these deaths. Zere will die in prison if there will be no appropriate cure and there is no opportunity for it in prison. She has to be released to receive treatment.
