SIRNAK (DIHA) – The devastation wrought by scourging forest fires appall residents, workers’ confederations and human right organizations.
In addition, it is also alleged that Besta Gendarmerie Commandership ordered to set fire to the forests without any military justification.
Ramazan Uysal, Mayor of Sirnak, who spoke about the allegation, condemned the response of authorities to the forest fire. There is no effort to extinguish the ongoing Cudi, Gabar and Besta fires, while Divin, Kenya Mêwi, Dola Hirçê, Cala Goza, Kenya Guhus on Cudi Mountain have been reduced to ashes.
Abit Ike, Chair of Peace and Democracy Party’s (BDP) Şirnak Branches, also criticized the government and local authorities for refusing to save the rest of the forests.
Furthermore, the Confederation of Public Employee Trade Unions (KESK) held a press meeting to call on the state to extinguish the fires.
