BATMAN (DİHA) – Kurdish seasonal workers mostly consisted of forced immigrants case is a bleeding wound in Turkey. Thousands of forced immigrants have to go western side of Turkey to do their living. They have to deal nationalist reactions since they are considered as potential criminal by Turks besides economic difficulties.
According to their statement they have been not allowed to speak in Kurdish and worked without being insult and threatened.
Unemployed Kurds have to go to west due to earn bread and butter even though all these oppressions since there are no enough opportunity to work in the eastern Turkey.
Batman is the city in where the numerous forced immigrants have been living as well as seasonal workers.
16 year-old Sait Çoşkun; I had to drop out my school because of economic reasons. We have been going to the West every year in August to pick up hazelnut. We are facing suppression in there such as calling us as terrorist or forbidding speaking in Kurdish. I wouldn’t work there if I don’t have to.
16 year-old Veysi Şahin; We can work only one month in a year and this work is only in the West. Thereby we have to go since we have to work to live. They are threatening us to death. We are potential criminal as Kurds according to them. Besides those they are firing us when we spoke in Kurdish. There is no other option for us other than working in there.
20 year-old Çiğdem Şahin; AKP administration doesn’t have any effort to create jobs or new investments in Kurdish areas. They made us to immigrate to cities from our villages without thinking our economic situations and taking any measures. We didn’t need to work outside when we were in the villages. But we are desperate since we are here. Besides these there is extra oppressions on us for being Kurd in the West.
50 year-old Kamer Savacı and teenager Sozdar Savacı also made same comments about their work and life conditions as Kurds in the West side of Turkey.
