NEWSCENTRE (DIHA) – Widespread May Day Celebrations of Kurds in Southeastern and Eastern Turkey was one more event which marked the day. 500 thousands were in Taksim Square and thousands of in other cities where mostly Kurdish people are living.
Batman, Silopi, Adıyaman, Tunceli, Şırnak, Agrı, Bitlis, Şanlıurfa, Kahramanmaraş, Diyarbakır, Mardin and Siirt was all demonstration area for May Day.
Trade Unions, NGOs, human, women, children and prisoner rights organizations and BDP’s branch organizations were the organizer of May Day in the Region as well as in Istanbul and Ankara. There was no significant incident during the celebrations in the Region except Elazig where celebration was forbidden. The decision of banning the May Day celebration was protested by a demonstration held by Trade Unions, NGOs, human, women, children and prisoner rights organizations and also BDP’s branch organizations
