ADANA (DİHA) - About 600 workers from Miray Cleaninig Corporation which took the bid of cleaning businesses from Adana's Seyhan Municipality have begun to cease work for having social rights and work security.

About 600 workers employed in Miray Cleaning Corporation which took the bid of cleaning business for Seyhan Municipality, has started ceasing works at yesterday in front of Cleaning Business Directorate. Workers who appeared to be as subcontractor worker after Miray Cleaning Corporation took the bid of business of cleaning, state that they are being treated as if slave. Workers want their social rights given, insurance premium deposited, work security assured, not their compensation taken away from their hands by making out and in in the business, annual vacation, and having vacation for festivals and special days, giving end to arbitrary dismissals and salaries given in time and in whole.

We are treated as if slave

Sadik Solen (41) named worker, working as cleaning worker in Seyhan Municipality for 11 years said that they encoutered several problems after the municipality outsource the business of cleaning. Streesing that they have no social rights, Solen, said that '' They make enter and quit to job for a few times in every year. They don't deposit our insurance. Their aim is not to give our damages. They give minimum wage as a salary. And 1 million money for meal. We are put into place of slave.''

Threat of sacking from the job

Ali Kocar (51), 8 year worker of cleaning, said that he did not have vacation until now. Kocar said that when they take report for being ill their daily fee was cut down. Veysel Asmantar (26), a worker in the firm, saying that workers are fired arbitrarily and none of their rights were given, said that:

'' The firm is continuously lay off workers and take them back. The aim is not to give our damages and right of seniority. They don't not take back those objecting to this, they take their man in place of them. Our work and bread depends on words coming out from lips of general director of the firm Zeki Genc. They had us signed a contract by this month. They made in and out to the business in the contract. Although our damages were not given it was shown as if it was given. It was written in the contract that we will not demand any right in the case that we are laid off job. They said they will fire us and our salary will not be given in the case that we don't sign the contract. Everybody signed out of neccessity.

Working for 6 years and only 240 days insurance deposited !

Abdurrahman Tanc (43), who works as a chauffeur in cleaning business for 6 years, said that 10 times in and out to business was made and damages was not paid. Stating that only 240 days of his insurance was deposited although he works for 6 years, Tanc, told that '' What we want is our social rights given, securing job security and paying wage for humanly living. They don't let us have vacation. When we want to use they say you can not use until you filled your one year in the job. But they don't let us to fill one year for they take us out and in 3-4 times a year.''

Mayor of AK Party claims that workers work!

Azim Ozturk, AK Party mayor of Seyhan, does not even accept that workers do action. Arguing that cleaning workers still work, Ozturk, said that Cleaning business is executed by a private firm after privatization. Workers are on their duty.

Rejection by trade union

Workers who applied to Genel Is Region Office connected to DISK, stated that they wanted to be member of tade union. Authorities of the trade union dismissed this after 6 hours meeting. It was learnt that the trade union which showed no reason had maintained Collective Work Contract (TIS) with Seyhan Municipality and disagrement had arosen and they went to mediator. Workers who showed reaction to decision of trade union, wanted managers of trade union to have a stance in favor of workers.
