MARDİN (DİHA) -The project of 'growing cherry' prepared by DTP mayor of Yalim Municipality Abdulkerim Adam has found support by EU. By the project which aims to develop breeding of cherry in the district,employment to 125 family whose material situation is bad will be provided.

EU had accepted the project of mayor of DTP Yalim district Abdulkerim Adam for generalizing breeding of cherry and turn it to the importrant source of revenue. Adam said that the project of ' breeding cherry' accepted by EU by Yalim district which had sold 30 ton cherry and gained 42000 YTL will develop the district more.

Adam who stated that the material situation of 125 families which they detected under the scope of the project which is 25 thousand Euro, said that with this project scientific methods of farming will be developed.

Agriculture Development Cooperative was constructed

Wanting to develop modern agriculture of garden, Adam, said that after the project accepted they had established Yalim District Development Cooperative. Aiming working of farmers in accordance and collectively, Adam, said that ' In the District of Yalim which consists of 718 house 90 percent of people are interested in agriculture of garden. Because of inefficient production and heavy problems of marketing agricultural activities could not provide enough revenue. The possibility of having revenue outside of agriculture for most of pople is very low. Because of this the aim of our project is to provide this revenue and to reduce economic problems to minimum.

The education of breeding cherry will be given

Stating that 125 families will be educated in groups of 25 each by engineers of agriculture, Adam, said that the engineers of agriculture who are managers of the project also will be subjected to education. Adam who stated that in the region of Mardin which Yalim district is within, 273 ton cherry is grown said that ' breeding of cherry is made with traditional methods, the measures of modern breeding is not practised. Because dispersed breeding is done, a struggle with illnesses of ' bough burn', 'monilya' and 'cherry fly' is waged. In conclusion we are not benefitting from agriculture of plantation.'

Adam who stated that for providing employmet to citizens they will produce new projects said that with all projects, union and collectivity will be provided.
