MALATYA (DIHA) - The officials of Malatya Municipality have declared that they will gather the 1st International Apricot Symposium to discuss export-related problems and to seek for solutions along with a number of foreign guests.
A written statement released by Malatya Municipality-Press and Information Directorate says the necessity to a wide-scope meeting at which exporters from Turkey and their alien colleagues will discuss on both the problems experienced in the field of the apricot, Malatya's most leading income 95 percent of which is exported, and on their solutions has been known for a long time.
To cure this insufficiency, Malatya Municipality has decided to organize an international gathering to which exporters and importers from Turkey and abroad will attend as well as officials from Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade and which will be chaired by The Exporters' Assembly of Turkey (TIM), says the declaration, and "Our aim is to put what problems are lived in the field of apricot on the table for dealing with them before the experts and those who engage in this domain and to make contributions to the search for solutions".
The first to be held
Besides 3000 apricot exporters, relevant officials and employees from the TSO, Malatya Agriculture Directorate, Head Office of Kayısı Birlik, Apricot Exporters' Association, Apricot Producers' Association, Agriculture Chamber and the Commodity Exchange have been invited to the apricot symposium which will be realized in the country for the first time. Meanwhile, Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade has also sent the invitation to 40 countries' commercial attaches in order the symposium to attend and to be announced
Symposium on the apricot is to be organized on July 14, 2005.(ia/ny/aş)
