President of DYP Ağar: The farmer will become capstan of the EU 16:13 04.01.2005

ANKARA (DİHA) - President of the True Path Party, Mehmet Ağar stating the farmer will become the workman of the European Union because of the policies the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has fallowed asked support premium in cotton to be raised from 5-6 cents to 20 and also to be declared in this month.

In a press conference in the Turkish Grand National Assembly Ağar touched on the problems of cotton producers and stated cotton takes a significant place in agriculture but the current government considers the matter in respect of votes and as such victimizes the farmer.'' Agriculture has been treated as stepchild. Support bonus which was $ 6 billion has been reduced to $ 2'' saying Agar pointed out the supporting premium which is 49 cents in Greece, 55 in the USA, is only 5-6 in Turkey and demanded the power to fix support premium of cotton as 20 cents.

'Find for yourselves'

Expressing agriculture alerts Ağar said:'' Unfortunately, the government do not hear the shrieks of helpless binders reaching us. The cabinet can not promote justice by 'Find for you'. The existing administration has accepted restrictions on agriculture. Silence and hesitation in struggle for the EU will make the Turkish farmer become the worker of the EU. There will appear new chiefs in the EU reigning the Turk farmer. We give warning on cotton and wait measurements to be taken in the field''.
