BERLİN (DİHA) - Iranian movie makers Kia Kiarostami, Daryush Shokof and Arman Najm are protesting the festival for the films chosen in the festival is a political choice rather than their artistic value. The movie maker defend that the festival is protecting the fascizm in Iran.
It is the first time that 6 movie from Iran take place in the panorama, forum and competition section of the 56 th Berlin Film Festival. The film of Jafar Panahi ' Offside and the film of Rafi Pitts 'Zemestan' in the competition section, the film of Mani Haghighi ' Men at work' in the forum section, the film of Maziar Miri ' Be Ahestigi' in Panaroma and the film of Mehdi Jafari 'Kami Balatar' in the section of short film will meet with the spectators. The Iranian movie makers Kia Kiarostami, Daryush Shokof and Arman Najm by saying that this choice is made conciously have been boycotting the festival. Kia Kiarostami who lives for 25 years in exile by stating that it is the first time that 6 Iranian film take place in the Berlinale said that ' In the period which we had gone through the president of Iran, the minister of Culture had stated that they are against the jews. In this period choosing of the films shows strange inescapable relationship. The authorizeds from festival said that ' For the first time we bring not the films of Iran but the films which have artistic value. But we know that there is no such a thing. Because in Iran there is no cinema which is independent and does not depend on regime.
Iranian cinema is under the pincer of censorship
Daryush Shokof who had lived 35 years in exile and known for his movie called as ' Seven maid' emphasized that he does not accept the cinema which the scenario is not written freely, the actors are not playing freely and the director is not putting his or her perspective. Shokof who said that the films accepted to the festival is chosen depending on political developments said that he rejects the festival for it supported censorship and not taking into consideration artistic and cultural content. Shokof who said that a cinema which have not renewed itself fot 30 years against the some films which are creative is a masturbation. He said that the choice should be made according to artistic value.
Another movie maker who is against the content of 56 th Berlin Film Festival is Arman Najm who had lived 30 years in exile. The director said that the chairman of the festival said that they had chose political films said that the chosen films had put it as false. Najm said that ' He claimed that this films are against the regime. But this does not reflect the truth, he said.
