İSTANBUL (DİHA) - Mesopotamia Culture Center (MKM) Modern Dance Group which gives priority to touch on social problems in its projects, now expresses its problems with a music video. Dancers have appeared before camera to commemorate the artist of people's dances Fuat Unlu, executed in 1999.
Modern Dance Group who wanted to make a work on Kurdish artisans losing their lives in the area of clashes, took decision to shoot a music video about Fuat Unlu. Dancers who began talks for this aim and working on the concept of the video music, took the shots in previous days. Musics of the music video whose pictures was taken by director Kazim Oz and Mesopotamia Cinema Collectivity, were prepared by musicien Serap Sonmez and Emre Kocabasi.
Yasemin Karaca, Selma Civak, Berivan Yetim, Arda Alpkiray, Leyla Toprak, Semra Kap, Yesim Coskun and Serhat Kural who are from Modern Dance Group take a part in the music video with shows of solo. In the music video which Serhat Kural and Yesim Coskun are administering the concept, choreography of the show was prepared collectively as everyone can give something from himself or herself. They prepared this to reflect what their friends felt when they heard of killing of Fuat Unlu.
Unlu is animated with authentic cloths
In the music video which starts with voices from street, the pictures of Unlu while running is performed, from the idea that he was shot dead in the street. With shot of him, dancers take the stage and begin to dance together. Serhal Kural, who performes Unlu takes part in the music video with authentic dresses of Kurds to emhasize that Unlu was an artist of people's dances.
Members of Modern Dance Group bases their choice to express this subject by music video rather than a dance project to the idea that it is most effective to express their problem with a visiual media by setting off from stage arts. Their aim is to express and remind that they did not forget their friend. But also to realise what they did not do which they wanted to do and most important to show that they make him live on their souls. They chose video music to express their artistic stance and to mark their artisan friends who lost their lives in the area of conflict. The dancers express that it is not a music clip, and dance show is not prepared for music. In contrast they prepared music for dance show.
